The Bloodline

Bloodlines: Piecing Together Our Family’s Story

Genealogy has been a lifelong passion of mine, fostered in long afternoons spent on my grandparents Malindy and Ellzey’s front porch as our family worked together to shell bushels of butterbeans and peas. Listening to the elders share family stories, trace connections, and repeat the names of those who came before my time impressed on my young mind the importance of remembering our ancestors. I treasured those times together and the stories I heard. My paternal Aunt Edna had painstakingly gathered information and assembled a book about the Evans/Williams family, and I yearned to do a similar project with the Jones/Touchstone side.  Later, with access to census records and online archives, I was thrilled to discover hidden details—each record a puzzle piece, each name a stitch in the quilt of our family history.

In Bloodlines, I’ll be sharing the genealogical research I’ve gathered on the families that shaped my own history. Along with Jones, Touchstone, Evans, and Williams, I will include Milstead, McDavid, McCarty, Lofton, Crider, and many more. I’ll also delve into the Berryhill and Cowart family trees, to trace Cliff’s heritage. Additionally, I have fascinating details to share about Raymond’s  Alesich and Ragas lines.

Genealogy is more than just names and dates—it’s the stories, struggles, and triumphs of those who blazed the trail for us to follow; it brings to life those who passed away long before us.  I hope that by sharing this research, others will be encouraged to piece together their own stories and appreciate the rich tapestry of the past that still influences us today.

Join me in exploring these family lines; if you recognize a connection or have a question, I’d love to hear from you!
